Civilization is a state of human society where people live in cities, villages, towns, etc. Civilization developed and spread so unevenly because of the different cultures, resources, and climate. In a civilization there is at least three characteristics. People are suppose to produce extra food, establish there own way of living with a set of rules, and all have different responsibilities like jobs. Each one helps to maintain a comfortable environment for everyone to live.
Culture is a set of beliefs, knowledge, and patterns of living that a group of people develop. Archeologists are the ones that dug up artifacts by early hominids. Tools, clothing, and weapons are the artifacts they studied. By studding their artifacts they learned many things about their cultures. Since artifacts give limited evidence the archeologists made educated guesses about the prehistoric world.
A resource is a source of supply. It helped the early hominids perform tasks easier. They used spears, harpoons made from antlers and bones, fish hooks and arrows. They tamed dogs to help hunt smaller animals. Later on, came the use of metal. Copper was used to make tools and jewelry. Following copper, they made bronze which was harder and better. This marked the end of Stone Age and the beginning of Bronze Age.
In addition to, the climate was another reason for an unevenly spread. It is much faster for civilization to spread from east to west than from north to south. It’s a lot easier and faster when the climates are the same. However, only when prehistoric people learned to make fire and clothing, could they settle in colder region and travel North and South. What made that possible were the land bridges that the last ice age created.
To conclude, civilization did develop and spread unevenly. I feel that the reason why this happened was because of the different cultures, resources, and climates. Those three reasons have a major impact on civilization and even life as we know it today.
